Does anyone else think this?

Lobbys are near silent, and i havent added a new friend since the fall update!
I think it should be stopped in game and have like a home screen party chat.

It has killed about 90% of the fun of xbox live for me!

Heres an article i found on it: Click Here

I havent seen anyone talk in CODWAW or COD4, i really wish they would stop it in game and just have it for Demos, Arcade, and the Dashboard?

Part of the fun was talking to other people, iv nto spoken to a soul thats not on my friends list in around 3 months!

Nobody talked in CoD4 anyway apart from the angry prepubescent kids squealing about lag/cheats every time they die.
Fix your problem by being one of the people in a party, if it bothers you that much.

Well said. Most of the time you get yanks and what-not trash-talking in lobbies so a party is ideal as at least you're playing with friends unless you don't play with friends.

The party chat was a great addition when its not throwing everyone out of the party all of the time. It has made games a bit more silent than usual but then im all for not hearing americans talking shite.

When i got live about a year and a half ago i thought everyone would talk and they don't and in my eyes that has not changed since party chat. Sometimes i only notice someone has a mic on when they do that heavy breathing crap. The things i don't like about party chat is when it just kicks everyone out and one of your mates knob head friends is in the same chat.

It's quite simple really, join a party of your friends, they can play other games or the same game and you can chat. If you wanna speak ingame just change to ingame chat, if anyone else is interested in chatting to new peeps they will probably do the same. The people who don't join ingame chat are probably unsociable anyway. I think party chat is good, coz you aren't pestered by those annoying squealy voices, ignorant prats who just wanna insult you. It's also good for young kids as their parents will know they're not being subject to some of the trash talk that was always present.

The party system has killed one aspect of Live for me: making new friends.

Almost everyone on my FL is someone I have struck up a conversation with while playing games - since the party system has come in, it's rare to hear people chatting in games like COD4.

On balance I reckon the downsides outweigh the positives.

In contrast everyone on my FL is either someone I actually know or from these forums.

Since party chat has come out, it is all I've used, to be honest. Think its great. I only have to talk to the people I want to talk to, which is nice. And I don't need more random people on my friends list just because I started talking to them on live. I can barely fit in playing with people I know, let alone randoms!

I'd say it's a good and bad thing too. It's brilliant being able to stay in a party an chat with everyone playing different games, but makes team based multiplayer games really boring online.

I think there was a fundamental shift between the original xbox and the 360. Live was never the same when the 360 came out. Hardly anyone talks in the lobbys or anything apart from annoying american kids. Everyone used to talk and have a laugh and you would meet really cool people on a daily basis. It's just not like that anymore

Party Chat Killed Xbox Live if your a loner

Thread title fixed Razz

Just kidding Wink

Live was a beatiful service when 360 launched. I remember sitting in plenty of lobbies chatting with friends and when a random would join, we'd include them in the conversation. People met in those lobbies are still on my friendslist but I'm thinking back to a time where Microsoft couldnt meet demand for the machine and I was one of the lucky few to own the console.

These days, Live has turned into a six headed monster where half the people are in private chat and the other half are screaming pre-adolescent teens which tends to leave 2 people in the lobby- one willing to talk and want to make friends, the other who's sat lonely on his own with his mic unplugged with no intention to make conversation

I wouldnt put the transformation down to party chat alone, I'd also blame the larger lobbies- back in the day PGR, CoD2 and PDZ never had more than 8 people in a lobby so you could hear yourself speak. in a 16 or 32 player lobby its harder to get a word in edgeway with the constant murmer of whiny little kids

I only really ever play online with my headset on when I am playing Halo. I'm quite a high rank at Halo, so EVERYONE is a dickhole. Thank the God I don't believe in for party chat.
