Also, whats better between LCD and Plasma? I've just been quoted £1065 for the Panasonic TH-42PZ85B, which is a well nice tv, is 1080p plamsa. _________________ www.360style.co.uk |

Nevermind, I've gone for the LG6000 as the reviews are good. I am considering changing it for one of the new Samsung Series 6 tvs, any thoughts? This LG was a bargain at £749 with 5 years guarantee though. _________________ www.360style.co.uk |

The best thing about that tv is the look of it. I was looking at it before i posted the tv above until i noticed the contrast ratio is very low at 2000:1. The tv that i posted is cheaper and it has a contrast ratio of 10000:1 with the only downside being that it just isnt designed to look as well.
I know myself i wouldnt buy another tv with a contrast ratio less than 10000:1. My Philips tv has a ratio of 6000:1 and trying to play dark games is a bit of a problem which usually means that i have to turn the contrast and brightness up just to be able to see whats going on but then that ends up leaving the picture looking very washed out. |

Right, I'm after a bit of advice people, Can anyone give me an opinion on the Sharp Aquos range of TV's?
Through work, I can get a 52 inch HD Ready 1080P TV for £999 (Model LC52X20E) it apparently retails for £2100...
Any good? |

The XL2E is better than the X20E as well i think 100hz and 24fps was added over it - doesn't retail at a much higher price either (this was a year ago - I've not looked for a while). _________________ chrisno21 |

I'm hoping to upgrade my TV soon but all the options are bewildering. I'll be limited to a 32" screen (as determined by the size of the room and instructions from the wife ) and I quite like the Sony Bravia models but this is where I get confused - I can get the KDL 32V4000 for less than £500 at Currys but it's only 720p/1080i, or I can go full HD with the KDL 32W4000 but it's £300 more expensive and I'm not convinced yet that it's a £300 better TV. Then, to confuse me further, there's an in-between model the KDL 32V4500 which accepts 1080P feeds but it's native resolution is limited to 1366x768!! Aarghh, I'm drowning in tech specs and resolution numbers!
I don't know what to do. Everywhere I look the information seems contradictory at best and two years out of date at worst. Is there any advantage in full 1080p on a 32" set? Will the 360 games and HD DVD player look as good at 720p on a TV of this size? Is the full HD model worth a £300 premium? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. |

At 32" unless you are incredibly observant to a rediculously high degree you'll never notice a difference between a 720p and 1080p signal. General rule is 40"+ and it's worth it. So no need to go for the W's as it would be a waste of money. As for accepting 1080p signals to display at 720 - I see little point in it myself as you are still only watching a 720 image, but I'd probably want the option if I was looking !! Sony sets are quality (Bravia are the best LCD engines imo).
Just remember to check for your other options, i.e. enough HDMI inputs, good sound, 100hz if you watch sport and always check online reviews.
@ Shuichi Kurama
The 360 will be absolutely fine with your TV over component or HDMI (if you buy the cable). _________________ chrisno21 |

Picked up a similar one today:

I had planned to pick up a new TV for my room at Uni, but I'm so impressed with the picture quality it's giving out I'm keeping it at home with my mini HD setup and taking my current one up to Uni again with me.
I think the one on play is newer than the one I picked up but for me, the main pulling point of the LS19CFEKF was its 10000:1 contrast. It may be a small screen but it doesnt half belt out a vibrant picture! |
