i agree completly! sega are behaving like a group of motherf**king wankers! i love AvP and it sold well so why are they pulling the plug? the game ended on a cliff hanger (spoiler alert!!!!!!) of the Marines and Predators discovering the location of the aliens homeworld and the Alien "number 6" transforming into a queen onboard Weylands ship! how could they then pull the plug!?!?!?!?!?! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
and jimbob30, i dont think its likely that colonial marines is coming out this year, its been delayed for what? 2, 3 years? ive lost count.
but the timing is even more interesting as the new Predators film only came out a week ago...
but overall, in the words of Arnie, whoever pulled the plug on AvP at sega is "One Ugly motherf**ker"! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

to bloody right.what right do sega have to pull the plug on a game thats meant to have sold so well.and i was wandering if they cancelled support so they could get aliens colonial marines off the ground.but even if so thats no reason to pull the plug on a game thats meant to keep us entertained untill colonial marines arrives.sega need to realise that all they needed to save this game was an expansion for the story and new game modes and skins. It shouldnt be that hard for sega to get rebellion working on that but sega should have let a well known publisher have the rights like EA or even epic games.they just a company holding on by a thread and milking anything they can for some fast cash.thats called not caring about real fans

Jimbob,

I think Sega have the right to pull the plug on Alien vs Predator because they own the rights to the game! I think you're overreacting a little to be honest. You'll still be able to play the game as far as I'm aware. It's true though that you won't be receiving as many map packs as a Call of Duty game, but it's hardly a major problem.

I must admit I loved the Marine section of the game. Really atmospheric and scarey as hell at times. Having always hated everything about Predator (inclusion in games, and those pathetic B-rate movies) I gave up very quickly on that section of the game. And while I think playing an alien in an online game is a fun idea, I absolutely disagree with a game allowing you to play both hero and villian. Fortunately I didn't waste money buying this game as the Marine side only lasted a couple of hours. If developers continue to refuse to include co-op campaign, I will continue not buying their games.

Regardless of what happens to Alien vs Predator I hope the game engine is used elsewhere. It's one of the most impressive engines I've seen in a long time. The use of motion blur when quickly looking around worked really well. I actually found this to be one of the most accurate first person shooters I've ever played. It also helped that looking up/down had it's own independent speed to looking left/right. If only more developers had a clue about providing gamers with the means to adjust the controls and customise buttons to suit us.

Anyway, I'm also looking forward to Colonial Marines. As the Alien/Aliens movies are pretty much the basis of the nearly the whole first person shooter genre, it'll be amazing to finally experience a full game of being hunted by aliens.

If the makers can ensure control of our character is as accurate as AvsP, and the game engine runs as smooth, with a little consideration about allowing players to customise controls and the game includes a co-op campaign mode it stands a good chance of being one of the best shooters in the last decade! However, knowing how useless the industry is, and how frightened and incompetent it is at including co-op campaign, I'm totally prepared for Colonial Marines to be as big a disappoint as most shooters!

"However, knowing how useless the industry is, and how frightened and incompetent it is at including co-op campaign..."

For those of you who don't know, Jensonjet is the guy who thinks that every game should be able to do absolutely everything for everyone. All games should have co-op (even the ones who don't need it), all games should be both first person and third person (never mind how that might negatively affect design), all games should be 100% customisable (even if it makes zero sense) and all games should be able to fly and do circus tricks.

Can you imagine how shitty a great game like, say, Dead Space would be if it had all those options? All the functions in the world, but at the cost of player immersion.

I am either missing numerous subliminal messages within Jenson's post, or your attack is entirely misplaced.

EDIT: I really should comment on the topic at hand...

The last time I played the game online, it was almost impossible to find a match. The number of people online is small, thus I am in no way surprised that further DLC - or "support" - will not be forthcoming.

Tiamtu

Not an attack, just an opinion based on some of his past comments. I like f**king with the guy, because sometimes he says stupid things (usually in lenghty essays that make War and Peace look like an afternoon read. I really should stop reading them, but I can't help myself).

You didn't miss any subliminal messages. That's why I said "For those of you who don't know..."

Lancer: I see.

Tez: I'd much rather someone like Jenson frequented these boards than numerous others who choose to post in a thread with the sole intention of mocking another user.

Anyway, bring on Colonial Marines! And the first two Alien movies on Blu-ray! Very Happy

It is a shame that Sega have dropped their support.
It's a great game, I did play the map packs on my friends Xbox, but was a little dissapointed with them. They were fun and I was hoping for some more DLC in the future.
Shame really.
