Approached this with an open mind despite being a huge fan of the original and it's definitely got the 'feel' of DMC for me with the combat/combo's, but like msb alludes to, the holding of triggers feels a bit wrong - but hard to get a good feel of that from just a demo (maybe it'll improve with use/time - but equally could get more annoying), wasn't overly impressed with the LT+X/RT+X different grab thing either, but the core 'whack-a-git' mechanics felt good, slick and meaty.
My concerns stemmed more from the disjointed cutscenes (don't know if spoilery bits have been taken out so could explain this), but more importantly - the camera. Yuck, yuck, yuck... I know there are flying enemies but i hate the natural setting where i constantly seem to be looking up at dante from under his feet, and the way it swings around makes me feel giddy which is not something i can remember ever getting from a game before. The 3d jumping bits only help with this of course
Lack of lock on (i think Ed/Matt mentioned this in another article) is irritating too, not to game breaking proportions, but it still grates.
Was going to mention the linearity of the levels but i think that's a bit harsh as it's only the demo and no doubt there'll be secret bits dotted about (red crystal in the wall i can't break), and now i think back, the original was quite linear in a sense, #2 was a lot more open ended and was shite so maybe they know more than i about this bit
