Who buys an RPG for the co-op anyway?

Americans....

This is exactly the reason why making KOTOR an MMO is the worst decision that Bioware has ever made....

My friends are cool but were I to let some of them into my game they would probably have their character strip down to his or her underwear, set themselves afire and then run through all the buildings I own, igniting what ever wives and children I have in the process and destroying my reputation by wearing a fireproof card with "I'm with Fedris" round their necks.*

Name me another single player RPG that attempts to do co-op. It's a bold move and something never tried before...

RPG's are a little more complex than shooters what with their levelling up and choices that affects the way characters and story unfold around you so what did people expect?

Single player is bound to be amazing so why complain about something thats really just an added bonus Confused

Peter is probably always going to talk a better game than he makes, but at the end of the day, the last Fable game was brilliant and I expect this to be pretty good too. Certainly, there will be more positives than negatives overall.

I was thinking about picking this up...but seeing the lack of support from Lionhead and the general attitude and response from a team member has put me right off....Farcry 2 or Fallout 3 anyone

I had high hopes for the CO-Op, but it sure is annoying to see this problem crop up

its like the UK support for Forza 2 all over again...

Seriously guys, it's just the couch co-op, it's no big deal. I mean, what could possibly break the immersion of an rpg more than having another player in the same room, probably sniffing loudly and scratching their nether regions while they play (just an example). Online co-op will obviously be different. Don't forget, the video demo of online co-op clearly shows a completely unique character join the player's game.

Logically, the kind of people who join in couch co-op aren't that likely to be playing through on their own account anyway. Any player who doesn't share the same 360 is hardly gonna save their game on a memory card (or import their gamertag) to play a generic henchman, tethered to the same screen as the host player when they can have full freedom online to split off from the host and do what they like, exploring the other player's game as they see fit. That was a long sentence.

I think this whole fiasco boils down to a misunderstanding of what couch co-op is supposed to be, which is a mode that lets your kid, spouse, etc join in and feel included. Some people who don't have the game or are just generally ill informed are probably under the impression that the reported issues exist in online co-op, when they actually don't.

I think the words 'knickers' 'twist' 'mountain' and 'molehill' come into play here.

Can you please answer my question then:

WhenI play onlien co- op with a friend, will I be ble to see their indivusal character and vice versa, because that is what we were promised. From what I've read it appears thats not the case.

Well, the appearence of your multiplayer character was supposed to be 'based on' that of your single player one, but the overwhelming word so far seems to be that you get a generic henchmen. I've heard so many things even since my last post that I have to wait until I get the game tomorrow and see.

The thing is, if you have an issue with the game, you have a right to express that for the game's development team however you feel the need to do so, as long as you don't cross any boundaries.

So to have a member of the development team stoop that low, to panda to the affections of Fable fanboys is pretty f**king disgusting to see. What a massive c**t.

It is confusing why you can't use your own character. Even if it was just for the sake of appearances and you still couldn't collect any items, I think being able to play as the character you spent hours designing would have softened the blow. Hell, it's not as if this would have pushed the game beyond its limits.

Still, to include co-op at all was a brave choice. Kudos to Molyneux for pushing the envelope, which is more than you can say for a lot of developers who stay within the confines of their 'successful' parameters (Halo 3, anyone?).
