I think they should just scrap the membership payment & allow everyone free online access. I for one would buy more XBLA games if this were the case - but I can't justify the £35 for a year when I am what is described as a `casual` gamer and so have some periods when I played online a lot (like when I first got PGR3) and then not at all for a couple of months. Hence I only had gold membership for the first year. Alternatively if they must charge for it then have it stay active for 1 year or x100 gaming hours whichever comes LAST. Smile

In the ideal world we shouldn't have to pay for xbox live but alas I'm willing to pay £25 for a year (look around and you'll find it). However I would like a few more perks, maybe a 10% discount on DLC or something?

PC gamers don't have to pay dor servers that are usually better set up than Xbox ones.

As for this offer -- what an utterly pathetic list of games ! How about a few commercial release ones ! Half of them are Microsoft companies anyway or a deal could be done with EA etc to open their servers for this limited time.

Well, for me there is no longer an incentive to pay for a gold membership as I now own a PS3 so will be buying games i will play online for that rather than my 360, even if the Ps3 version is inferior (as theyre usualy only minor differences anyway). At least I can play it online for free. I know a lot of people say they have problems with lag etc when playing online with PS3 but I very rarely suffer anything like that when playing online. Guess im just lucky with my connection?

Before I got my PS3 i was happy to pay £15 for the 3 month xbox live gold cards but no more than that as i'd have some months that i wouldnt play online. That was the ONLY incentive for me to pay for gold memebership though. Im not bothered about waiting longer for demo's.

If Sony, Nintendo and PC gamers can enjoy free online gaming, why can't 360 owners?

Well I don't mind paying for live too much because i know it allows pretty much any game to have acess to MS's servers and without that money there would be less Xbox live games, I do wish it were slightly cheaper though.

Back to the main point of the article, what a sit collection of games! It's hardly going to convert any silver members (which I assume is what MS are trying to do).
