Guitar Hero 5 outsold Beatles because it's "fun as hell

I can't be bothered with the apparent arrogance on Activision's part regarding the Guitar Hero franchise (and indeed about all of their franchises). For most of the gaming public releasing a yearly re-hash with little to no innovation and poor track selection is enough. But for me (and I suspect) and a lot of the users of this site, this simply won't satisfy the criteria I look for when buying a new game.

No, it sold more because the vast majority of the game buying public have no idea what games are good - they go by TV adverts and who has the biggest shop displays - ie. brand recognition, and GH has way more than Rock Band. However, any real gamer worth their salt who follows the industry knows Rock Band shits all over GH from a great height.

No, the general consensus amongst gamers who know games is that Rock Band is the better game - I listen to 10 gaming podcasts a week, they all much prefer RB to GH ... in fact some actively hate GH for it's garish gfx, cluttered note chart, bad note progression, awful layout and just general poor design since GH3 onwards.

I still like and play GH games, but cmon... Rock Band is the superior product. It's from the originators!
